ZAYA

In a universe filled with bio-mechanical criminals and secret agents, the only surprises left are those from OUTSIDE our universe…

A secret agent in the distant future leaves her post to seek a normal life as an artist and mother.  When a biomechanical threat starts attacking agents across the galaxy, she is called back into the field to find and stop the killer.  The mission opens many questions about her own past, present, and future within not only the organization, but within the universe as she knows it.  This sci-fi action-mystery is told through breathtaking design and illustration by Huang-Jia Wei, known throughout the field for his bio-mechanical aesthetic and lushly painted artwork.

ABOUT THE CREATORS

J.D. Morvan, Writer

Born in Reims, France, in 1969, J.D. Morvan took the little world of French comics by storm. He graduated from the Institut Saint-Luc in Brussels, where he first aspired to be an illustrator, though he was convinced that he’d actually end up being a writer.  After penning several major titles, including NOMAD and HK for Glénat, he created the wildly popular series SILLAGE for Delcourt, establishing himself as one of the most sought after writers in French BD (the French term for “comic books”). Extremely prolific, he has created several series for Dargaud, including MON ANNEE with Jiro Taniguchi, AL’TOGO, LE PETIT MONDE,  REALITY SHOW and NAJA.  He also authored a number of volumes of SPIROU & FANTASIO, with illustrator Jose-Luis Munuera, as well as the MERLIN series, co-created with Joann Sfar and Munuera. In 2011, he created CRIME SCHOOL, a manga-flavored series for kids, which was nominated for an award at the annual BD festival in Angouleme.  He recently launched a new series with Korean artist Kim Jung Gi called SPY GAMES.

Huang-Jia Wei, Illustrator

Huang Jia Wei was born in China in 1983. Since childhood, he nourished a dream of becoming an illustrator and designer. “Ya San” was his first work of over a hundred pages. This graphic novel project was presented as a study project during art lessons. Although in his great humility, Huang Jia Wei describes his own style as “childish”, he hopes that his designs will be well received and will continue its momentum to offer us other increasingly captivating works.
