MFKZ COMING TO KICKSTARTER!

DMC. Dark Meat City. Built out of broken dreams and desperation. Keep your head down if you wanna get by, which is sometimes easier said than done. Angelino and Vinz are two guys just trying to squeeze out an existence as best as they can – a challenge considering one looks like a jet-black cueball and the other has a flaming skull for a head. But that’s not as strange as DMC gets, so they rarely earn a second look.

That is, until Angelino starts seeing strange shadows. A careless collision with a semi-truck knocks a brand new sixth sense into his head: the ability to see strangers among us, demonic or otherworldly beings disguised as humans, manipulating society from behind their human masks. What do they want? Why can Angelino see them? And why do they suddenly want to get their hands on him?

The groundbreaking, celebrated graphic novel series by Guillaume “Run” Renard, MFKZ is an out of this world adventure about an unimaginable Apocalypse and how Angelino could be the key to stopping it (or starting it, depending on who gets their hands on him first…) Pursued by mysterious Men in Black, territorial street gangs, and a team of Mexican wrestlers who’ve been guarding mankind for decades, Angelino and Vinz find themselves in the middle of a global conspiracy that will blow your mind.

Told in 5 volumes, MFKZ is a multi-layered, epic tale of destiny versus self-determination filled with explosive action, humor, and sincere gravitas for the characters involved. Drawing inspiration from a massive canvas of pop culture references, this series is X-FILES meets GRAND THEFT AUTO with the flair and attitude of Luca Libre theater.

It’s unlike anything you’ve read before.

The success of that comic series gave birth to Label 619 and ultimately the feature-length animated film MFKZ, directed by Run and produced in a joint effort by Ankama Animation and the infamous anime factory Studio 4C (best known for THE ANIMATRIX, TEKKON KINKREET, and the anime Batman anthology series GOTHAM KNIGHT).

Label 619 lands in America

From this single project grew a powerhouse graphic novel studio unlike any other. With unique titles such as FREAKS SQUEELE by Florent Maudoux, the twin anthology horror series DOGGYBAGS and LOWREADER, CARBON & SILICON by Mathieu Bablet, and FRONTIER by Guillaume Singelin, Label 619 (named after the San Diego area code for that city’s historied association with comics) has stood out as one of the most imaginative independent creative forces in European comics.

And now they’re ready to sweep the US with English language publishing partner Magnetic Press!
