Magnetic Press and Oni Press Form Strategic Partnership!
After more than a decade of producing premium-format graphic novels, multiple Eisner Award nominations, and last year’s Eisner Award win, Magnetic Press has formed a strategic partnership with sister company Oni Press, which are both owned by parent company Polarity.
Mike Kennedy, Publisher at Magnetic Press had this to say, “Oni and Magnetic have been sister companies for more than five years, and this new partnership truly will allow us to offer the best of both worlds: Magentic’s world-class graphic novels and games, coupled with Oni’s formidable presence in comic shops and book stores. The Magnetic Press line will continue to champion its unique editorial vision while benefiting from Oni Press’s established distribution and marketing channels.”

The Magnetic brand was founded by writer and video game veteran Mike Kennedy in 2014 as the independent publishing company Magnetic Press, Inc, featuring creators both new and established from around the world, sharing their stories with an English-language audience often for the first time. In 2016, Magnetic was acquired by Lion Forge until 2019 when they became they once again became independent publisher while remaining under Polarity. Their award-winning library includes such celebrated titles as the Love series of wordless wildlife graphic novels, as well as Eisner-nominated books such as Mister Invincible, Pistouvi, Irena, Stay, A Sea of Love, Watersnakes, Herakles, Doomboy, A Glance Backward, Little Tails, The Ghost of Gaudi, and Dave Dorman’s Wasted Lands Omnibus.
The partnership will give Magnetic Press access to Oni Press’ distribution partners, which will place Magnetic Press in more stores in the direct market and help to establish deeper marketing, sales, and manufacturing support. Magnetic Press Publisher Mike Kennedy will continue to be headquartered in Chicago but will also report to Oni Press’s President and Publisher Hunter Gorinson.
