Our MINIS Go BIG

We had an amazing time at the recent Gaming Showcase at Autodesk’s Portland office, a 60,000 square-foot post-and-beam timber building inspired by the company’s “Make Anything” mission. This creative meca, with its wood-clad interior and local artistry, is the perfect place for established and emerging companies to showcase both tabletop and video games while building relationships within Portland’s creative community. It sits at the crossroads of the comic book and tabletop gaming world.

Chris Northrop, who works at Magnetic Press doing production work on many of our projects, was invited to the event by Autodesk’s Media and Entertainment outreach engineer, Jordan Giboney, after they connected at Rose City Comic Con last month. At the showcase, Chris presented several projects he’s working on, as well as Magnetic Press’s very first tabletop game, CARBON GREY, featuring detailed 3D miniatures (a precursor to our most recent tabletop Kickstarter campaign for THE ROLE PLAYING GAME OF THE PLANET OF THE APES), and pieces from our BLACK BOX CHRONICLES title.

The event brought together game designers, writers, artists, and creators, eager to explore the potential of Autodesk’s cutting-edge software and printers. And, of course, 20 pizzas kept everyone fed throughout the night!

It was a once in a year opportunity to connect with our Kickstarter peers while highlighting the incredible potential of 3D-printed minis. Special thanks to our friend, Paul Covello for hauling boxes of minis, and to everyone who made this event a success. We’re already looking forward to the next one!
